In winter, pressures on A&E departments increase substantially, particularly admissions for winter respiratory illnesses, putting an additional, but in some cases avoidable, burden on the NHS.

To find out more, visit: nhs.uk/winteradvice or view the local 'Winter in Oxfordshire' site for advice and tips on how to stay well.
Working with Age UK
OCCG has worked with Age UK Oxfordshire to support the publication of a useful booklet full of tips and advice for older people on being prepared for winter. It includes:
- a checklist list of items needed for having a winter plan
- how to access a 'message in a wallet' card which tells the emergency services if you have any illnesses or allergies
- fire safety advice
- benefits advice for helping you to stay warm over winter
You can download it or request a printed version from Age UK Oxfordshire by phone 01235 849434 or email network@ageukoxfordshire.org.uk
