Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting will be held virtually via a videolink, but members of the public are welcome to join the online event and submit questions in advance.

As reported to the March Governing Body meeting this is the first of the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West CCGs Governing Bodies meetings in common.

In February 2021 the Department of Health and Social Care published a white paper that included a broad set of proposals for legislation which will be introduced to parliament later this year with a view that they will be enacted ahead of March 2022.  The white paper proposes putting each Integrated Care System (Oxfordshire is part of the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West -BOB ICS) onto a statutory footing and the core CCG functions will be transferred to the ICS.

While there is much that will be defined in guidance and legislation later in 2021 it is likely that a new commissioning organisation will be created across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire & Berkshire West.

In the meantime, the three CCGs remain separate statutory bodies and must organise themselves so that they are able to deliver their functions effectively and efficiently in 2021/22 whilst also planning the transition of these functions to the new ICS body. This work has already started by aligning the governance arrangements across the CCGs and to start developing ‘committees meeting in common’.

The Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West CCGs Governing Bodies (on 10 June 2021) will hear an update about progress in patient care, an overview of performance of local health services and finances.

Going forward the meetings for each of the three CCGs (Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West) will continue in common in September and December 2021 and March 2022 prior to the launch of a single NHS body covering these three areas from April 2022.
