Still time to have your say on Oxfordshire health changes

Date: 27 March 2017

Patients and the public are reminded that Oxfordshire’s ‘Big Health and Care Consultation’ on proposed changes to some healthcare services remains open until 9 April 2017.

Local people are encouraged to have their say via a survey questionnaire on the proposals for changes in the use of  hospital beds and stroke services across Oxfordshire, and maternity services, critical and planned care at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

As part of the consultation a series of 15 public events held in Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire finished last week in Abingdon (23 March). More than 1,300 people attended the events where they met with clinicians and senior NHS managers to share their views on the proposals.

All feedback and comments from these events will be analysed alongside the views from the surveys and written comments after the 12 week consultation closes.

David Smith, chief executive of the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group which is running the consultation, said: “Although the public events have finished the consultation continues until 9 April, so there is still plenty of time for people to read our proposals and share their views via the survey.

“We thank everyone who has attended the public meetings and for commenting on the proposals which aim to ensure safe and high quality healthcare for everyone.

“No decisions will be taken until the consultation is complete and the public feedback has been considered.”

A full consultation report is likely to be considered by Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group Board in May 2017 after which decisions will be made on the implementation of the proposed changes.

People can take part in the survey online by visiting the Transformation website .

They can also request a paper copy of both the consultation document and the survey on 01865 334638 or email cscsu.talkinghealth@nhs.net

Video films shown at the events and live audio recordings can be found on OCCG’s YouTube channel.
