People are reminded to download Oxfordshire CCG’s free smartphone app which signposts to local health services such as GP practices, pharmacies and minor injuries units.

‘Health and Care Oxfordshire’ uses digital mapping to allow people to find their nearest health service, wherever they are in the county.

The app highlights the type of injuries or illnesses treated at minor injuries units or first aid units in Oxfordshire, and the advice and support provided by local pharmacies and GP practices.

People can also find information via the app on a range of services delivered by sexual health clinics and where these are located in Oxfordshire.

It signposts to the county’s adult social care website, and also to Patient Access, which allows people to use online services provided by their GP practice.

Dr Ed Capo-Bianco, Urgent Care lead Oxfordshire CCG, said: “The app advises people on the best health services to use if they are unwell or need treatment – it also shows exactly where these services are located in Oxfordshire.”

Ed said: “The app will be especially helpful over winter when the weather gets worse and more people have coughs and colds. It will signpost them to appropriate services which can help keep them well, and prevent illnesses from getting worse.”

Details of pharmacies, GP practices, minor injuries and first aid units as well as A&E departments in Oxfordshire are listed, together with information about some nearby main hospitals outside the county. These are displayed on digital maps showing the exact location of the service and contact details. Opening times of services can be accessed via provider websites or through NHS.UK

The ‘Health and Care Oxfordshire’ app can be downloaded from the App store (see here) and Google Play (see here)
