Diabetes UK and Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are holding a patient engagement event on Thursday March 1 in Oxford to hear from people about local diabetes care and treatment across the county.

Diabetes UK is working with the CCG to help transform the care that people living with diabetes receive across the county. The event is an opportunity for people with diabetes to have their say and tell us about their experiences of care and treatment.

Dr Amar Latif, Clinical Lead for Diabetes at Oxfordshire CCG, will also be discussing the CCG’s vision for the future of diabetes care.

Dr Latif said: “This is an important way to get your voice heard about diabetes care and help shape the plans for diabetes services in Oxfordshire. It is also a chance to meet other people living with diabetes and share what works well in local care and also those areas that need improvement. We look forward to seeing you at the event!”

Diabetes is a serious and complex condition which can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and lower limb amputations if not managed properly. There are 28,627 people diagnosed with diabetes in Oxfordshire.

Matt Hopkins, Diabetes UK’s Improving Care Manager in Oxford, said: “We know that people have different experiences of care and that there is room to improve the outcomes for people living with diabetes in Oxfordshire. But as the experts in your own care, we need your help! We want to hear about your experiences of local diabetes care and what improvements you’d like to see.”

The event is free and open to any adult living with diabetes, or people who care for others with diabetes. As there are limited places, people wishing to attend must sign up for the event.
