Flu advice on the buses

Date: 19 December 2016

news

There's still time to protect young children from flu this winter.

That's the message being taken on the road over the next few weeks in the form of advertisements on the back of some Oxfordshire buses.

Parents are being encouraged to make sure their youngsters named two, three and four or in school years 1, 2 and 3 get a free flu vaccination.

Pre-school children can get the vaccination - in the form of a simple, painless nasal spray - at their GP Practice usually given by the practice nurse.

Children in years 1, 2 and 3 will be invited by the school health nursing teams to get the nasal spray vaccination at school.

Dr Joe McManners, clinical chair at Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group said "Flu can be serious for young children. Help protect them from flu with one simple nasal spray. The vaccination is free, fast and painless so don't put it off."
