Catch it, bin it, kill it

Flu is very infectious and currently circulating – it is spread by germs from coughs and sneezes, which can live on hands and surfaces for 24 hours.

Following the simple steps below will make a huge difference in the fight against common colds and the more serious flu virus.

  • CATCH IT – Always carry tissues and use them to cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • BIN IT – Dispose of used tissues as soon as possible
  • KILL IT – Clean your hands with soap and water as soon as you can and make sure you wash them frequently

There is still time to have a free NHS flu vaccination if you are eligible to help protect you against flu – the vaccine also reduces the risk of the illness spreading.

The vaccine is available for pregnant women and those aged 65 and over, patients with a long term health condition like asthma or diabetes, or, are a carer – children aged 2 and 3 can have the nasal spray vaccine which is fast and painless.  Ask your GP, pharmacist or midwife for advice on the flu vaccine.

If you follow the steps above then it will help you and your family stay safe and well this winter.
