Will the NHS pay for my treatment?

stethoscopeThe NHS has a duty to spend the money it receives from the Government in a fair and efficient way, taking into account the health needs of the whole community.

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) commission local NHS health services and NHS England commissions highly specialised health services.

Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has a legal duty to provide health services for patients in the county within the resources available to it. We get a fixed amount of money to deliver local health services and we have a legal duty not to overspend. This legal requirement means that some hard choices have to be made. Not all treatments can be provided by the NHS. Treatments that are limited by OCCG are shown in our Lavender Statements.

However, we recognise that there will always need to be a process for considering making additional NHS funding available for the exceptional patient that would benefit more from a particular treatment. This process is known as an Individual Funding Request.
