In September 2015, a new contract was signed to deliver a new way of commissioning and for providing some of our adult mental health services in Oxfordshire. The new contract, between Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of the Oxford Mental Health Partnership (OMHP) commenced on 1 October 2015. This approach means that the patient has one care plan across the whole partnership, and helps the individual focus on their personal journey towards recovery by identifying the goals that are important to them.
OCCG in partnership with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust are holding an event on Tuesday, 23rd February in Oxford which will showcase the services that the partnership will be delivering such as our new Recovery College. It will also be an opportunity to showcase other services across the county that we are delivering in partnership with Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance. These will include the psychological wellbeing service (TalkingSpace Plus) and crisis services. People attending will also have the opportunity to explore how they can be involved in the continuing development of mental health services across the county.
By working with the people who use our services and those that help support them (friends and family or their GPs) the partnership will be able to focus its resources where they are needed most, so we can continue to provide high quality services that will make a real, positive difference to the lives of anyone with a mental health problem.
David Chapman, Clinical Lead for Mental Health at OCCG, said: “These new services will benefit patients with mental health illnesses, by focusing on outcomes which have real meaning to them, enabling them to be active in their lives and better supported around their mental illness. This event will help to demonstrate how these services are already starting to improve patient care in Oxfordshire, so please do come along and find out what is going on in the county for you.”
Jackie Gough, Head of Business and Performance, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust said “This new contract is a real opportunity to work with our partners across the county who all share the same values of improving services to achieve better health outcomes for those patients who experience a mental health problem. This event is open to anyone who has an interest in mental health, either personally or professionally so we hope to see patients, carers, colleagues and members of the public there.”
